The owners of MAYCAR FOODS, INC. - Mr. Mayolo Tolentino and Mrs. Carmen Tolentino started as fish vendors at the Lipa Public Market in the 1980's. The turn of events happened during the time when there was stiff competition on low market sales for fish. The low demands for the fish caught in the nearby sea resulted due to the tragic sinking of a passenger ship where in lots of lives were lost. Since people became hesitant to eat sea foods, the couple started to sell in retail hotdogs and dressed chicken coming from their market co-vendors just to be able to survive and compensate for the lost daily earning. A week after their start in the retail sales of the new product line, the demand for the product was noticeably increasing and the market was growing. To sustain the rapid growth and to gain more customers, they decided to look for wholesalers were they can directly get their products so as to have higher profits. The wholesalers have agreed on a consignment basis wherein they will pay them after the products have been sold.

With the further increasing demand for processed meat in the mid 1990's, they decided to introduce thru backyard type of operation, their own version of homemade "PORK HAMONADO" on top of the other processed meat products they are selling. When the demand for the meat products have grown tremendously, they took the opportunity to increase their product line by producing Longanisa skinless and in casing, hamburger patties, tapa, tocino, etc. The production of these products then was all manually done with small table type grinder for meat grinding.

As years passed, the manual labor can no longer cope up with the demand so they decided to purchase meat processing machines for faster and better production. With God's blessing, the bottom line improved so much in 1999. This opportunity opened them to market their products to nearby areas and later on to nearby provinces. In 2005, they decided to put up their meat processing plant in their property having 3,549m² land area situated in Purok II, Brgy. Balintawak, Lipa City, Batangas. It was inaugurated and formally opened in 2006. At this time additional machineries were acquired.

The continuing success can be attributed to the manner the company manufacture the products with its high regard to quality, hygiene and the reasonability of prices. Accredited in 2006 as Meat Establishment Category "AA", the company was awarded and earned the distinction of being the "Best Meat Establishment" in Region IV-A for the year 2007 and 2008. In the same years also, MAYCAR FOODS, INC. has been adjudged National Finalist in the NMIS sponsored "Search for the Best Meat Establishment."
